Prince of Thule

Today's sketch is Hal Foster's Prince Valiant. I've always had a fondness for Medieval stories and the stuff of Arthurian legend and would like to do more in that arena. Prince Valiant was always in our local newspaper when I was a kid but I didn't really pay it much attention, tearing past it to get to Calvin & Hobbes. I ended up getting into it in sort of a backwards fashion as a big fan of Gary Gianni's work, who had taken over drawing the strip until just recently, then going back and discovering John Cullen Murphy's and (of course) Foster's work on the strip. This panel is hands down one of my favorite drawings in comics.

All for today, thanks folks!

A solid marriage once in a while has two in number individuals in the meantime. It's normally a couple alternating being solid for the other. In those minutes when your mate is powerless, be solid for them. In those minutes when you're feeble, permit them to be your quality. The nature of agreeable is fine and great. The consummation is great. Joker Crocodile Leather Coat
