Behold: GORGON!

I drew the Gorgon on the right for the OHOTMU:Reduxe blog. Have I mentioned that I like the Inhumans? I really like the Inhumans, folks.

Still in an FF mindset, so today's sketch is Doctor Doom, stealing some other schmuck's ride.

'Ringo's FF

Here’s another first, trying to ink over a sketch of the Fantastic Four by Mike Wieringo. His run on that book with Mark Waid is absolutely one of my favorite books, so I knew I had try something with these characters.

Thanks to Ron Salas for the push to do this.

Mike Wieringo

Today marks 5 years since the passing of Mike Wieringo. Mike was the first monthly working artist I really latched onto when I started reading comics and drawing, and his work is always in the back of my mind somewhere. I never got the chance to meet or talk to him and very much wish that I had, if only to tell him what an impression he made on me.

This Superman and Krypto sketch by Mike is my favorite piece that I own. I've talked about it fairly often. It hangs in my office right above my desk and I take a minute just to look at it nearly every day. Instead of just posting the sketch, I thought I'd try my hand at coloring it this year, something I've never done.

Thanks for everything, Mike.

Makkari

Here's one I almost forgot to post, I drew the Makkari on the right for Calamity Jon's Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Reduxe Edition blog. Jon posted it while I was out of town so I had no idea that it was already up. I've always liked The Eternals and picked up a few of them for this project, so look for more to come.

Edna McCoy's Bouncing Boy

I've mentioned before that Beast is my favorite X-Man, and one of the characters that got me reading superhero comics in the first place. I've also written about how I've never been crazy about his latest incarnation as a giant blue cat, at least at the beginning. What I realized though is that I've never actually tried drawing it, usually opting for one of his two classic looks. I'll admit that once I got into it I can see why some like it. It still doesn't hold a candle to this or this for me, but it can be a lot of fun depending on how you handle it.
